<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I absolutely agree with this, Sugar Magnolia. Please don't start limiting us by pixels or bytes or something. I can turn the computer on, but it took me 2 years to get my avatar sized small enough so it would appear. I don't want to have to figure out some other major thing. Plus, I'm not so good at having to read teeny tiny print anymore.

And I and my dds absolutely
[img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img] LOVE [img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img] the pictures that everyone shares in their signatures. It's one of the things that makes this board so much fun to view. Sure, what you all have to say is great, but all words and no pictures gets a little dull sometimes...YKWIM? Many times, my dds will just watch me scroll the board, looking at the adorable pictures of everybody's dollies. I enjoy this so much.

I'm on dial-up now and I don't know if I'm unusual, but I don't notice any slowness at all. I wouldn't mind if tickers were limited, but I love the pictures and the links to people's albums. I'm so sad that some of the album links have been taken out of some ladies signatures. I haven't saved all of your albums to my favorites and I wish I could find some of them again. My dds and I love looking through them.

I think people should just try to be reasonable about the sizes of their signatures.

Sorry, but I do find some of them quite annoying. I love the pictures, but I was embarrased when I first put mine up and it was HUGE, I realize no one wants to see a 8" picture of my daughter on their computer screen (except me, of course! ), and immediately asked for help and it was received by very talented ladies here who told me how to fix it.

As for the tickers, I think they should be limited to AG items. Like when you get to go to AGPC or the release of a LE doll, or something specific to AG at least. Not to be mean, but I agree with the whoever else said about family birthdays or anniversaries, I don't really care about them, and honestly, since so many of them originally were like that, I've gotten to where I no longer read ANY of them, but just scroll through ALL of them.

Just my opinion,

Laurie

I wish we didn't have to have a rule about the sigs, as I love looking at most of them.

However...I think the past few days prove to us what life would be like without rules. We truly do need them to maintain order.

I, for one, will be totally lost if we start talking about pixels and such. But I'll do my best to do whatever it is I need to do.

In order to see the bytes and pixels of your posted picture, you right click on the picture.
Then, you click on properties.
It then shows the bytes and pixel size.
It is really not that hard to figure out.
Try it!

I do understand that part. But I don't know how to re-size. Photobucket will re-size your photos, but it's pretty standard.

We also have to remember that everone's camera is different. Mine takes HUGE pictures. I have to resize with photobucket.

Anyway...I think if we make things too complicated, we will have people who don't include pics in their siggy's, and I will miss that. But I do think we need some guidelines, so that everyone can calm down about this issue.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Everyone is invited to put all the links to their albums and AG Websites in the Website Sticky at the top of our board. That website sticky has an amazing wealth of information!

Also, there is a wishlist sticky to put your wishlist on.

I also love everyone's pictures. I also have a hard time downsizing pictures. I am a novice on Adobe Photoshop and it took me a long time to make my avatar picture. I am getting a little better, but my photos have a lot of bytes. I was just going to put a new one in my signature today and it was HUGE! I tried making it smaller in photobucket, but it just wouldn't work.

This is a pretty good dialogue to see where everyone is at regarding this matter. I have a high speed cable connection, so download time are no problem. Scrolling through long lists of dolls and tickers is a bit of a pain, but it's not the end of the world for me. No carpal tunnel yet, LOL.

Maybe its me but when there are too many things in a sig-or just not "eye" friendly. I tend to scroll down, and not read any of it.

It bothers me because I know I am probably missing information about the person, but at the same time, its almost second nature to just skip the sig.

I have a high speed connection, too, so no download problems here, either. I do find the tickers mildly irritating, but not enough to complain, I guess. I do think it is a good thing we are discussing this, though.

Jenny - I love your picture. I also love the size of it! If I were to design these limits myself, I would say:

Maximum Allowed In Signature:
2 tickers (AG related)

1 big picture like Jenny's or a few smaller pictures adding up to the same pixels of Jenny's.

2 lines of text - I guess we could count the number of characters usually in a typical line of text. If someone has a lot of albums or a wishlist, they could say something like "Check the Website Sticky for All My Albums" or just link up the most recent albums.

How is my sig? I'm just wondering. I will most likely change it once my newest girls come (which will probably be on Fri. or Mon.) I only have paint to go by, so I save my pictures onto my computer and then I resize using paint.
